- To remind and update participants on the classification of periodontal disease and the role of systemic disease in its causation - To delve into the inflammatory cascade and identify inflammatory mediators - To review systemic disease conditions directly related to periodontal disease

Objectives

- Define the inflammatory cascade with relevance to periodontal disease -Identify inflammatory markers scientifically linked to periodontal disease - Link common systemic diseases to periodontal disease experience - Identify and appropriately refer patients to relevant specialists while appreciating multidisciplinary management

  1. Dr. Jethro Wambugu
    Dr Jethro Wambugu is a consultant periodontist and implant surgeon working with the Kenya Navy with more than ten years’ experience as a consultant. He has a special interest in the interplay between systemic health and periodontal disease, as well as periodontal microbiology. He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at multiple scientific conferences in dentistry and general medicine.
