KDA-FDI ORAL HEALTH OBSERVATORY (OHO) PROJECT
KDA-FDI ORAL HEALTH OBSERVATORY (OHO) PROJECT
Description
The Oral Health Observatory (OHO) project seeks to collect standardized data on oral health through mobile app based surveys in several countries. Data will be collected on dental patients’ perceptions of their oral health and its impact on their quality of life, dental visiting habits, and oral health behaviours. Data will also be collected on the patients’ oral health status, allowing for comparison of patients’ perceptions with clinical measurements. At a global level, there is a lack of standardized, comparable data for these elements.
Objectives
The study is led by the FDI World Dental Federation, and will be coordinated at the national level by several of FDI’s member national dental associations (NDAs). Each NDA will be responsible for the implementation of the study within their country. Data will be collected in general dental practices that are selected by the NDA. The responsible person for the study within each dental practice will ensure that it is carried out according to the relevant sections of the study protocol, namely the patient selection methodology and ethical considerations.
