Ending on:
Dec 31, 2025
Venue:
HOSPITAL BOARDROOM

Description

Nosocomial infections, also known as hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), are a major cause of morbidity, mortality, prolonged hospital stay, and increased healthcare costs. This CME focuses on the prevention, early identification, and effective management of nosocomial infections within healthcare facilities. Participants will gain practical knowledge on common HAIs, risk factors, infection prevention and control (IPC) strategies, antimicrobial stewardship, and surveillance systems. The session emphasizes adherence to standard precautions, prompt reporting, and multidisciplinary teamwork to improve patient safety and quality of care.

Objectives

Define nosocomial infections and identify common types encountered in healthcare settings. Recognize risk factors contributing to hospital-acquired infections. Apply standard and transmission-based infection prevention and control measures. Identify early signs and symptoms of common nosocomial infections. Implement appropriate management strategies, including isolation and treatment protocols. Promote rational use of antibiotics through antimicrobial stewardship principles. Utilize surveillance, reporting, and documentation systems for HAIs. Reduce the incidence of HAIs through teamwork, adherence to guidelines, and continuous quality improvement.
