Histology and cytology: Approach to diagnosing thyroid nodules.

Description

This activity provides a comprehensive overview of the histological and cytological evaluation of thyroid nodules, essential for accurate diagnosis and effective management. Participants will explore the latest diagnostic techniques, interpretative criteria, and the integration of clinical, imaging, and pathological findings. Emphasis will be placed on the role of fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), histopathological features, and the application of ancillary studies such as immunohistochemistry and molecular testing. This activity aims to enhance the clinician’s and pathologist’s ability to differentiate benign from malignant lesions, reduce diagnostic uncertainty, and guide appropriate patient care strategies.
