Description

Basic Life Support (BLS) is a critical, life-saving intervention that focuses on the early recognition and management of cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and choking. This CME aims to equip healthcare workers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to promptly initiate high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and manage airway obstruction in both adult and pediatric patients. The session emphasizes hands-on practice, adherence to current resuscitation guidelines, and effective team response in emergency situations within the healthcare setting.

Objectives

Recognize early signs of cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and choking. Demonstrate correct steps of the BLS sequence according to current guidelines. Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants. Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively. Manage airway obstruction (choking) in conscious and unconscious patients. Apply infection prevention and safety measures during resuscitation. Work effectively as part of a resuscitation team using clear communication. Respond promptly to emergencies to improve patient survival outcomes.
