Presenters

  1. Dr. James Njunge
I am a post-doctoral researcher with the CHAIN Network, which is studying acute illness and recovery in relation to nutritional status at sites in Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Burkina Faso) and South Asia (Pakistan, Bangladesh). I head the liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry platform in KEMRI Wellcome Trust Research Programme that I have adopted for Proteomics. My current work focuses on: (i) discovery of clinical biomarkers that can be developed into point-of-care tests for better clinical management of sick children; (ii) understanding the pathogenesis of febrile coma in children; (iii) Provision of mass spectrometry-based proteomics support for the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme and beyond.
