Trauma is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally, including in Kenya (top 10 causes death) Affects younger populations more Violence and road traffic injuries are 3rd and 6th leading causes death for 10-24 year olds in Kenya Timely care is critical to saving lives and good clinical outcomes (“Golden Hour” of trauma)
Objectives
Objective: to provide standardized, time-sensitive, and effective care to KUTRRH trauma victims in order to improve clinical outcomes
The Trauma Protocol seeks to achieve the above objective by:
Establishing a standard clinical approach to trauma care in A&E
Developing a system of multi-disciplinary collaboration to meet the complex and time urgent clinical needs of trauma patients
