Focused Assessed Transthoracic Echocardiography( FATE) Workshop

Description

This activity will provide participants with a practical introduction to Focused Assessment with Transthoracic Echocardiography (FATE), covering its principles, indications, and clinical applications in perioperative and critical care settings. Participants will learn to identify and obtain standard transthoracic echocardiographic windows and acquire and optimise cardiac images using portable ultrasound equipment. The activity will focus on recognising key findings, including ventricular dysfunction, hypovolaemia, pericardial effusion, and gross valvular abnormalities, and on integrating these findings with the clinical assessment to support timely and appropriate perioperative and critical care management.
