Description

Focus on recent advances in the understanding, diagnosis, monitoring, and management of cardiogenic shock. The lecture explores evolving definitions and classifications, current evidence-based treatment strategies, mechanical circulatory support devices, pharmacological interventions, multidisciplinary shock team approaches, and emerging research trends aimed at improving patient outcomes.

Objectives

Define cardiogenic shock and describe its current classifications and pathophysiology. Identify early clinical signs, diagnostic criteria, and hemodynamic parameters used in the assessment of cardiogenic shock. Discuss recent updates in the management of cardiogenic shock, including: Vasopressor and inotropic therapy Revascularization strategies Mechanical circulatory support devices such as intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), Impella, and ECMO.
