International Cancer Institute invites you to attend the ECSACO CME Lecture series held every 3rd Wednesday of the month on the Virtual Multidisciplinary Tumor Board platform. The topic of discussion will be Multidisciplinary Management of Head and Neck Cancers followed by an expert-led roundtable discussion on Wednesday, 17th July 2024 from 6.30   PM to 8.30 PM EAT

Objectives

To understand the management of various solid cancers and hematological malignancies To understand the importance of integrating palliative and survivorship care in cancer management To understand the importance of a multidisciplinary team approach in cancer management

Presenters

  1. Dr. Jerry Ndumbalo
    Dr. Ndumbalo is a Consultant Clinical and Radiation oncologist, Lecturer, and Researcher at Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI) and the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS). He has over 15 years of cancer treatment, care, and research experience and is currently the Founder and First President of the Tanzania Oncology Society (TOS). He holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Dar es Salaam, a Master of Medicine (MMED) in Radiation and Clinical Oncology from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA- General Management) from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is now involved in a Ph.D. research project in Genetic, Molecular Profiling, and Prognosis of Colorectal Cancer in Tanzania with the MUHAS and the University of Copenhagen. He has vast research interests in clinical research and global health. He has published over 20 articles in peer-reviewed international journals on various topics, from Cancer guideline development and implementation strategies to clinical research on radiotherapy techniques and treatment outcomes. He currently serves as a Principal and Co-investigator on numerous projects, including the Pfitzer Grant Tanzania Cancer Guideline Implementation project, Guideline development and implementation studies, Cervical Cancer and HIV (BMSF Grant), Automated Contouring and Planning (AROMA-C), and Genetic and Molecular Profiling of Colorectal Cancer in Tanzania study. He has actively participated in and led several technical working groups, including the African Cancer Coalition (ACC), which partners with NCCN in developing Harmonised Cancer Treatment Guidelines for Sub-saharan Africa. In this Coalition, he chaired the Head and neck cancer working group. He is a member of the development of NCCN harmonized treatment guidelines for esophageal, gastric, colorectal, ovarian, prostate, ALL, and AML. He also chairs the technical working group to establish and review the Tanzania National Cancer Treatment Guidelines. He is a reviewing committee member for the Standard Treatment Guidelines (STG) and National Essential Medicines List for Tanzania. Dr. Ndumbalo is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and was recently awarded the International Development and Education Award (IDEA). He is a member of the Africa Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC), serving on its Research Committee. He also holds membership in the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). He is a board member of the Tanzania Non-Communicable Diseases Association (TNCDA).
