Description

Sepsis and septic shock are some of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide especially in the LMICs. With a case mortality of 10 and 40% despite good hospital care respectively, they account for about 20% of all global deaths. Therefore, prevention strategies, early recognition and prompt treatment is essential in reducing the burden of these conditions and their complications. In today's CME, we discuss sepsis in the context of our facility.

Objectives

1. To highlight the latest updates in the definitions, diagnosis and management of sepsis and septic shock. 2. To identify possible areas of improvement in the management of sepsis in our facility.
