Description
Kenya has made commendable progress in advancing tobacco control. The Tobacco Control Act (2007), the accompanying regulations (2014), and Kenya’s commitment as a Party to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) have provided a strong foundation for protecting public health. Despite these gains, the tobacco industry continues to interfere with policy implementation, exploit loopholes, and target health professionals in an attempt to weaken progress.
Objectives
This webinar aims to:
1. Provide updated evidence on the health effects of tobacco and nicotine products, with emphasis on oral and systemic health.
2. Expose strategies used by the tobacco industry to interfere in oral health practice, research, and policy.
3. Equip dentists with practical approaches for patient counseling, advocacy, and professional leadership in tobacco control.
