Description

This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of nephroblastoma, also known as Wilms tumor, one of the most common kidney cancers in children. Focusing on early detection, current treatment protocols, and long-term management strategies, the session aims to equip healthcare providers with the knowledge to improve patient outcomes. Participants will explore the latest advances in surgical interventions, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, as well as the importance of multidisciplinary care and follow-up for survivors.

Objectives

Understand Nephroblastoma Pathophysiology: Gain insights into the biology and genetics of nephroblastoma, including risk factors and the molecular basis of the disease. Improve Early Detection and Diagnosis: Review the signs, symptoms, and diagnostic tools such as imaging and biopsy that aid in early identification and accurate staging of nephroblastoma. Review Treatment Modalities: Discuss the standard treatment protocols, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, with a focus on minimizing side effects and improving survival. Focus on Surgical Interventions: Explore the role of nephrectomy (kidney removal) and other surgical options in treating Wilms tumor, as well as the importance of post-surgical care. Address Long-Term Care and Survivorship: Learn about the long-term follow-up care needs of nephroblastoma survivors, including monitoring for late effects, such as secondary cancers and kidney function. Understand Multidisciplinary Care: Highlight the importance of a collaborative approach involving pediatric oncologists, surgeons, nephrologists, and other specialists in managing nephroblastoma. Explore Advances in Research and Clinical Trials: Examine new research and clinical trials aimed at improving treatment outcomes and reducing the long-term impact of therapy.
