Description
Perioperative cardiac arrest is poorly documented for a number of reasons Cardiac arrest in an obstetric patient is a rare event with serious consequences Anaesthetic complications have been identified as the leading cause of cardiac arrest in the obstetric population before delivery Management includes additions/modification of the recommended modalities e.g leftward displacement of the uterus It is therefore important to understand the dynamics at play during cardiac arrest in an obstetric patient
Objectives
The primary aim of this paper is to describe the incidence, risk factors and outcomes of cardiac arrest in obstetric patients receiving anaesthetic care.
