Elizabeth Kabuthi
Elizabeth Kabuthi is a Senior Medical Social Worker and a Certified Child Life Specialist currently serving as the Program Coordinator of the Sally Test Child Life Program at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital - AMPATH. She holds a BA in Sociology and is pursuing an MA in Sociology. Elizabeth is a pioneer CCLS in Kenya and among the first in Africa. She is also the President of the Child Life Association of Kenya (CLAK) and a member of the Africa ECHO Steering Committee (2022-2025). She serves on the board of the Tears Foundation Kenya Chapter, where she is a grief instructor for sibling grief support groups. Her professional achievements include winning a scholarship for the Association of Child Life Specialist Annual Conference in 2014 and presenting at numerous national and international platforms. She has published on the challenges of certification in Kenya in the Association of Child Life Specialists Bulletin. Elizabeth is passionate about alleviating suffering in children with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, mentoring healthcare professionals in psychosocial care, and improving the quality of life for these children and their families. She also advocates for sibling support, trains healthcare professionals in best practices for child life, and serves as a sign language interpreter in healthcare settings.
