Ms. Kithinji is the head of training at the Scientific and Ethics Review Unit (SERU) of the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI). Training and mentoring young professionals in biomedical ethics and research ethics committee administration . As faculty of the CBECKEMRI Bioethics Training Initiative (CK-BTI), her pride and joy has been her participation in the development of a curriculum for a practicum for research administration. Her educational background includes an MSc in Medical Parasitology from the London Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and an MBE in Biomedical Ethics from the Sindh Institute of Health Sciences/Center of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC), Karachi, Pakistan. She has a BSc in Biochemistry and Zoology from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and a graduate certificate in International Research Ethics from the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics, Baltimore

BUSHRA SHIRAZI
Dr. Bushra Shirazi is a Professor at the Department of Surgery, at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), Karachi. She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Biomedical Ethics from CBEC (2007) and joined it as faculty in 2008. She also has an MA in Bioethics (2011) from the Sindh Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), Karachi. In 2022 she achieved her Master of Health Professions Education from the Aga Khan University. Dr. Shirazi is actively involved in teaching at CBEC in its educational programs which include the Postgraduate Diploma and the Master’s in Biomedical Ethics. She has also participated in the national and international workshops conducted by CBEC. She has presented several papers, nationally and internationally, at bioethics related conferences. She is faculty CBEC KEMRI – Bioethics Training Initiative (CK-BTI) and has worked in the development of the bioethics curriculum. Dr. Shirazi chairs the Ethical Review Committee at SIUT and is a member at the Institutional Research Board of Ziauddin University (ZU) and the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (SMBB) Accident and Emergency Trauma Center, Karachi. She also heads the Quality Enhancement Cell at SIUT.

Prof. Dr Muhammad Shahid Shamim MBBS, FCPS, FRCS (Glasgow), PGD Bioethics, MHPE, PhD (Sydney), SFHEA Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Faculty of Surgery, Aga Khan University, Pakistan Associate Faculty, Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC), SIUT, Karachi, Pakistan Honorary Cabinet Member, Pakistan Medical Association (Centre) Prof. Shamim is a renowned surgeon and medical educator with a wealth of experience. Born and raised in Pakistan, he pursued his higher education abroad and received his PhD in medical education from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He has over 25 years of experience in providing educational and clinical services in Asia, Europe, and Africa. Prof. Shamim is widely recognised as a health professions educationist with expertise in curriculum management, teaching and learning strategies, and bioethics education. He has designed and conducted over 150 workshops for faculty training in various parts of the world, helping to develop educators' knowledge, skills, and attitudes and improve the quality of health professions education and delivery. He has been awarded the Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, UK, as evidence of his advanced level of professional standing in teaching and learning in higher education. He has also contributed significantly to medical research, with more than 60 papers published in peer reviewed journals, book chapters, and an ethics training manual for healthcare providers. Prof. Shamim is currently a Professor and Associate Dean at Aga Khan University and an Associate Faculty member at the Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC), SIUT, Karachi. He has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to providing quality healthcare services and developing health professions education. His dedication and passion for his work have made him a respected leader in his field and an inspiration to his colleagues and students.
