Feiko Kuile
Prof. Feiko leads the long-standing partnership between KEMRI and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) on behalf of LSTM. As head of the malaria epidemiology section at LSTM and with over 35 years of research experience in malaria, Professor ter Kuile focuses on empowering Kenyan scientists to advance the understanding of malaria prevention and treatment strategies in high-risk populations in Kenya and the broader region through mentoring PhD students and supporting post-doctoral researchers.

Professor Bukusi: MBChB, M.Med (ObGyn), MPH, PhD, PGD (Research Ethics), MBE is a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences(FAAS) and fellow of East Central and Southern College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists( ECSACOG). She is a Senior Principal Clinical Research Scientist at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), a Research Professor at the University of Washington (Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Global health), an honorary lecturer at Aga Khan University in Nairobi and Maseno University (Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology) and Volunteer Clinical faculty – _Professor at the University of California San Francisco (Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences) .

Victor Akelo
Dr Victor Akelo is a medical epidemiologist, based at the Centre for Global Health Research of the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in Kenya, as part of the collaboration between KEMRI, Emory University, LSTM and the US’s CDC. He serves as Senior Science Director for the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) network at Emory Global Health Institute. He also serves as KEMRI CGHR Principal Investigator of several Maternal and Child health related studies, and a co-Principal Investigator of the Demographic Surveillance System.

John Waitumbi
Dr. Waitumbi is a Kenyan senior scientist and the Research Director of the KEMRI/WRAIR-Africa Basic Science Laboratory, located in Kondele Kisumu. Dr. Waitumbi joined KEMRI/WRAIR-Africa as a senior NRC fellow (1998-2001) and conducted research to answer the questions why, on contracting malaria, some children develop anemia and others cerebral malaria. On completion of NRC fellowship, Dr. Waitumbi took a full time employment at WRAIR-Africa as an FSN senior scientist for 26 years.

Boniface Chitayi
Dr. Boniface Chitayi is a consultant Psychiatrist and a Psychiatry lecturer at the department of Psychiatry at the School of health sciences of Kenyatta University. He is the current Treasurer of the African Association of Psychiatrists (AAP) and the immediate former president of the Kenya Psychiatric Association (KPA). Dr. Chitayi holds a Bachelor of medicine and surgery and master of Medicine Psychiatry from the University of Nairobi.

Vasee Moorthy
Dr. Vasee Moorthy is Senior Advisor, Research for Health Department, WHO Science Division, Geneva, Switzerland. Since 2008, he has held progressively senior roles at WHO in malaria vaccine policy development, Ebola vaccine phase 1-2 trials, global norms in sharing research data and results during public health emergencies, WHO R&D Blueprint for action to prevent epidemics, global consensus on clinical trials policy norms, WHO COVID-19 Research & Innovation Roadmap and the WHO Solidarity Trial of therapeutics supporting clinical trials networks in over 40 Member States in all WHO regions, and most recently, the adoption of resolution (WHA75.8) on clinical trials. Prior to joining WHO, Dr. Moorthy worked as a medical researcher at the University of Oxford, UK (2005-2008); with an NGO, PATH, in USA (2003-2005); running a clinical trials programme at MRC Laboratories in The Gambia (1999-2003), and as a government medical officer in Kwazulu/Natal, South Africa (1996-1997).
