Introduction to Oral Implantology: History of implants and overview of available systems Implant philosophy and patient psychology Anatomical considerations (Head and neck) Implant biomaterials The concept of osteointegration & Soft tissue healing in implantology Diagnosis and treatment planning of the implant case: Bone types and bone biology Diagnosis and treatment planning of the implant case: Occlusal considerations Treatment planning the implant case: Periodontal consideration Diagnosis and treatment planning of the implant case: Implant radiography (CBCT etc) Implant Armamentarium — General Understanding locally available implants. Megagen, Zimmer, Ankylos, Straumann, Bredent and MIS (prosthetic components & Prosthetic selection) Implant packaging (colour coding etc using Straumann, MIS, Megagen & Zimmer) Demo Clinical protocols: Informed consent and documentation, cross infection control in implants Surgical techniques: Soft tissue management in implantology (Flap design and implant site preparation) Surgical techniques: The surgical drilling sequence Management of single tooth implants in the anterior zone Management of single tooth implant in the posterior region Hard tissue augmentation in implantology (introduce sinus lift) Surgical techniques for GBR / Autogenous bone harvesting techniques Implant loading protocols Impression procedures in implantology, Lab communication & Implant laboratory procedures The provisional phase of implantology Prosthetic phase of implants: prosthetic components and selection for the simple implant placement case, Try-in and fitting of final restoration Monitoring and maintenance of implants

Objectives

At the end of the didactic portion of the course, you will be better able to: Diagnose, treatment plan and analyse space for implant restorations Choose design and size of implant Introduce placement of straightforward implant (SAC classification) Review different implant-supported treatment modalities Choose and design the appropriate abutment Identify the pros and cons, as well as the indications, of different impression techniques Distinguish the different techniques of temporisation Increase predictability and patient satisfaction in regards to implant-supported restorations At the end of the hands-on portion of the course, you will be better able to: Place single simple implants (Based on SAC classification) Differentiate some of the restorative components regularly used in every day practice of implant dentistry Make final impression through closed-tray or open tray techniques Torque the implant prosthesis
