Description
Dentists are professionals offering a vital service in the greater service of oral healthcare. In the offering of this service, there are bound to be conflicts in the workplace. These conflicts can be Dentist-Employer, Patient-Dentist, Dentist-Dentist, Dentist-Staff, Dentist-Vendor and some instances Dentist-Organization. One of the commonest conflicts has been that of an Employer-Employee relationship over remuneration and working conditions.
Objectives
Due to the close-knit community of dentists, some of these conflicts have spilled into social media and other fora. This results in negative publicity and unwanted disharmony among colleagues in the profession. The essence of this lecture is give the dentist the understanding that most conflicts are avoidable and how to go about it. In the event that conflicts do become unavoidable, then they also need to be educated on how to resolve them in the easiest way possible. It will delve into the need for communication as a de-escalation tool and the importance of legal binding documents in the work place.
